Triora Group has undertaken a programme of shower refurbishment works across multiple PBSA sites to address ageing shower enclosures, deteriorating wall finishes, and ongoing maintenance issues associated with tiled shower cubicles.
The proposed solution replaces damaged and difficult-to-maintain surfaces with modern Aqua Panel wall systems, creating a durable, watertight, and aesthetically improved shower environment. The refurbishment programme has been designed to minimise disruption to residents whilst delivering a long-term, cost-effective improvement to accommodation standards.
Many of the shower areas across the portfolio had reached the end of their serviceable life. Existing tiled finishes showed signs of deterioration, including cracked grout, staining, mould growth, water ingress, and damaged shower trays.
These defects not only impacted the appearance of the facilities but also increased ongoing maintenance costs and the potential for further structural damage resulting from water penetration. The client required a solution that would improve the quality and appearance of the shower facilities whilst reducing future maintenance requirements and resident disruption.
Traditional tiled shower installations require regular maintenance to prevent grout deterioration and water penetration. Over time, moisture can penetrate behind tiles, leading to mould growth, damaged substrates, and costly repairs.
Triora Group proposed a comprehensive shower refresh programme utilising high-performance Aqua Panels. The works include the removal of failed sealants and damaged wall finishes where required, preparation of existing substrates, installation of waterproof Aqua Panels, replacement or refurbishment of shower trays as necessary, and completion with new sanitary-grade sealants and trims.
Aqua Panels provide a seamless, fully waterproof wall covering that eliminates the need for grout joints, significantly reducing the risk of water ingress and mould growth. The panels are durable, easy to clean, and offer a contemporary appearance that enhances the overall quality of the accommodation. Where required, existing shower fixtures and fittings are retained, ensuring a cost-effective solution without compromising quality or performance.
